Our founder, Peter Jebsen

Peter Jebsen grew up on a farm in Denmark. From early on he learnt the value of hard work. After finishing business school, he moved to Norway in 1842. Jebsen soon became an entrepreneur and politician.

Jebsen was highly respected by the people at Dale. They trusted his judgement and relied on his goodwill. They knew he was a farmer’s son, like themselves. His work ethic and work capacity was legendary, and his standards were high.

Jebsen later became a bank manager, Norway’s largest shipowner and a member of the Norwegian Parliament. He married twice and had 24 (!) children all together.
