Our Nativa traceable wool originates in Salto, Uruguay, in the family farm of La Magdalena. Located in the North of Uruguay, Estancia La Magdalena is a family owned farm and one of the most emblematic farms in Uruguay due its history, size and productivity. It has outstanding practices on animal welfare, land management and CSR. This merino wool is mulesing free.
Uruguay is the second smallest country on the continent of South America. Thanks to excellent climate and environmental condition, the approximate 6,5 million sheep flock can graze all year round.
The merino wool is spun to yarn in the Czech Republic by Schoeller spinning group. Nativa merino wool saves drinking water and is made chlorine-free.
Our socks are made in Finland by Sukkamestarit, the first sock factory in Europe to be certified in the Nativa merino wool responsibility and traceability program.

Nativa also aims to ensure that the facilities and industries involved in the various stages of production of Nativa's product are properly managed to avoid or minimize pollution.
Animal welfare
The Nativa standard defines the responsibilities of all personnel responsible for animals and what practices are necessary to ensure the proper care of the physical health and needs of the animals. Livestock transport is also vital, and this standard defines how it is best managed, always keeping in mind what measures must be taken to avoid pain or stress to the animal. The sheep are allowed to graze freely in the most natural environment possible.
Traceability
The Nativa label guarantees the certification of every participant in the value chain, while the wool is traced from the farmers to the final product. All operators are certified on site by a third party and are committed to the demanding Nativa Protocol.
Farmer
Farmers are the real caretakers of the country. Good animal and land management is the key to high quality wool and the core of a high-quality supply chain. It is up to the farmers to take care of the sheep and their land to deliver the best fiber.
